Believe in Yourself

β€œOur deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I am not religious in any way but I have always found this quote to be incredibly inspirational as it reminds us that we don’t need permission from others to be exactly who we are and that hiding our achievements and diminishing our dreams for the sake of others serves no-one. I think that many of us are much better than we think we are but we have chosen to believe all the bad things that were ever said about us and to learn from the negative experiences that life has thrown at us. Perhaps now is the time to remember the compliments, the admiration, the motivation and, above all, the love that others have shown us. Maybe we should turn our focus towards the positive and our backs on the negative.

Life is a gift which is only ever given to us once. We can bitch, moan and complain about it or we can appreciate it for the priceless, unique, fragile thing that it is. We were not made to exist in a vacuum of self-doubt and fear, we were made to live………it’s all about life ;O)

Have a wonderful day everyone! Lisa xx

After you have a crippling day of negativity you get to see the light. And its so true that we think poorly of ourselves too much…doing so serves no one. Great post Lisa 🌷

That is a WONDERFUL quote Lisa. Do you know where it is from? What you have written about it is SO true. In my own experience I have found that the best way is to push on through, and believe in mysekfm WHATEVER others mught say. Sadly, a lot of the criticism and negative input can come from β€œauthority” figures. I remember when I was at Grammar school my gead aster told me in no uncertain terms that I was NOT devree material. But later on in lufe I refused to believe it, and got a degree AND a Masters, and almost completed a Ph.D. it is very easy to believe the negatuve things that people say to ys, and uf they are said iften enough we come to believe them. But once we set ourselves free from them, then wonderful things happen. It’s very hard for some people to shake off those negatuve thungs, but it IS lossuble. I endirse every word that you have said Lusa. I will now go back and see what everyone else has said lol. A great
    Ist, as always, !isa xo

https://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/Marianne_Williamson – that’s the woman who came up with the quote 😊
Great example of beating negativity Lorraine, it’s hard but, as you say, it’s possible xxx

Thanks for that Lusa. If I wasn’t blind I would put it on my wall. Yes, it is so easy to be brainwashed by others. But no one else is us. And really, those who are so negative towards us are just trying to pump themselves up. We myst ALWATS believe in oursekves. Thankyou SO much for this post Lisa, i needed to be reminded of it today, 😊

I am not religious either. I am spiritual. I do go to church on occasion just to get a new angle for enjoying Nature. God’s world. ( a building is not) LOVED the quote. I may steal it. Who is the author? You?

I’m so happy you shared these quotes and even more appreciative of your inspiring thoughts on them. So many people, including myself, get caught up worrying about the negative opinions of others. We start believing that what they say about us is true and it chips away at our self love and value. Life is too short to be looking at ourselves and our own lives through the eyes of others. We need to start seeing our worth, believing in ourselves and going after our dreams! Really, really loved this post, Lisa!! Thank you for this!

Hope you have been doing awesome, my dear friend! Sending a bunch of hugs your way! πŸ€—πŸ’•

Love this Lisa. My personal mantra is based on Matthew 5:16.

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works.” (The rest of the verse I abandoned a long time ago….”and glorify your father which is in heaven.”)

I always find it is much easier:

to be nice rather than nasty
to be kind rather than unkind
to be happy rather than sad
    to smile rather than frown
to be tolerant rather than intolerant (although I have difficulty here)
to forgive rather than hold a grudge

I try, always, to see other’s points of view, although that is becoming increasingly difficult the older I get!
